| Just got back from doing a little skipjack fishing and thought I would give ya'll a report. Three if us drove up to the Pickwick dam on Thursday and spent 2 hours fishing that afternoon. We were back Friday morning at daylight and fished until 8:00AM. (total of about 4 hours fishing) Catching was kinds slow and we had to quit when we filled all our icechests up. We carried one 150 quart, two 100 quart icechests and three 48 quart icechest. We vacumn sealed all the skips and filled up 2 upright freezer's when we got home. The skipjack BIGHT is NOW. If any of ya'll are interested in going you need to go quick. We caught all our fish just below the dam from the bank so you don't need a boat. If you go be sure to like we did and DON"T carry your icechests DOWN to the water. It's better to carry 5 gallon buckets, fill them, then carry that back up to the truck. Now all's I need is a river to fish in!

| | Thanks for the report nela. With the white unfishable, i may end up hitting it a lick over there. We took the boat last year and fished right off the generators opposite of the bank and filled everything we had in a couple hours last fall. Done used 3/4 of them, so somethings gotta give. As far as bait goes, they don't get much bigger than that! Catching a 12pd striper on ultralight was the highlight that day..... |

| Define bank. Does the Mississippi River have a bank now? If it does it's right in the middle of a cotton field. Hell, now I gotta learn how to fish a "turnrow".

| Wut Thorny Steve said. Sabiki rigs. Caught 6 or 5 at a time on a lotta casts. And dey were big-ums. Better hurry if'n you is going. My share of the catch was 2 ice chests full - one 150 quart and one 100 quart. That totals one hellava big bunch of skips. We packaged them with a vacuum sealer 3 to 2 per package and that took some time. Now if'n my motorboat gets fixed and the river quits swelling up I'll be ready to phish.
